Maintaining and developing the Parish, the Cathedral, its facilities and enabling its mission to be fulfilled successfully requires careful stewardship of its financial resources. The Finance Committee supports the Parish Priest in this vital function.
The Parish Finance Committee exists to assist the parish priest in promoting the financial health of the parish, assuring accountability and assisting the parish priest with his temporal responsibilities.
The Parish priest is accountable to the Bishop for the administration and stewardship of the temporal goods of the parish. The Parish Finance Committee is an advisory and consultative body that exists to assist the parish priest in meeting these obligations.
Brentwood Cathedral began in 1861 as a parish church built in a Gothic style. This relatively small building was raised to cathedral status in 1917. Between 1989 and 1991 the church was enlarged in an Italianate classical style.
The new Brentwood Cathedral was dedicated by Cardinal Basil Hume on 31 May 1991 and in 2022 the cathedral was listed at Grade II.
