Eight year old violinist Hermione Duan, accompanied by members of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, dazzled an appreciative audience for a recent Sunday afternoon concert at the Cathedral.
Last year Hermione made her concert debut at the Cathedral and her return was eagerly anticipated. It did not disappoint.
Her technique, musicality and poise shone through in a programme of Handel, Bach and Vivaldi. She was equally at ease as the soloist in the Bach A minor concerto or sharing the stage with her teacher Jennifer Christie in the Vivaldi Double Concerto.
The support from the members of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra was impeccable and some of their members stepped forward to lead the movements of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons which concluded the programme.

About Hermione Duan
Hermione was born in Shanghai and raised in the UK. She was originally introduced to the piano at age 5 and has been playing violin for nearly three years. She has an excellent rapport with her violin teacher Jennifer Christie, with whom she has made fantastic progress which has further fuelled her passion for the violin.
In August 2021, she performed in her debut concert accompanied by members of the RPO, directed by Jennifer Christie, at Brentwood Cathedral, 17 months after her first violin lesson.
